The 4th Industrial Revolution: From the Pandemic to the Remote World – The New Reality in Education

This IEEE conference provides academic and industry professionals the opportunity to discuss research into MOOC technologies as well as the practical aspects of creating and offering MOOCs to diverse worldwide audiences. Now in its eighth edition, LWMOOCs is a respected international forum to collaborate, share, network, learn, and display the latest advances in MOOCs. This edition will be the first hybrid one in Latin America, with the aim of spreading the MOOC movement and involving new institutions to enhance teaching and learning through technology.

Topics for Discussion

We call for submissions from a variety of disciplines and topics. We encourage submissions that build on the theme of enhancing workforce diversity and inclusion. All submissions will be double-blind peer-reviewed, and a selection will be chosen to present a vibrant program that maximizes time for discussion and participation through a single-track threaded with poster sessions, full-length paper presentations, shorter lighting-round presentations, active-learning workshops, and keynote presentations from leading experts. Example topics, though not limited to this list, include:

  • The role of MOOCs shaping the 4th Industrial Revolution
  • Expanding the learner community through MOOCs
  • Social implications of MOOCs
  • Assistive and inclusive MOOC techniques
  • Open content, open licensing, and MOOC delivery
  • International cooperation in MOOC projects
  • Using MOOCs in employee training
  • Scaffolding courses and planning MOOC curricula
  • On-line MOOC degree programs
  • Learning analytics in MOOC courses
  • Learning science and educational research models
  • Learning engineers applying sound science with MOOC platforms
  • Machine Learning, AI, and MOOC delivery
  • Experiences, best practices and lessons from the Pandemic
  • The new reality, the post-pandemic scenario in education at all levels

Location & Venue

Located in the center of the Guatemalan territory, the country’s central region is where Antigua Guatemala lie. This region offers spring like weather all year round, boasts an array of attractions, and serves as a perfect starting point to travel to other destinations around the country.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Antigua remains Guatemala’s must-visit destination. A former capital, the city boasts an impressive catalogue of colonial relics in a magnificent setting. Streetscapes of pastel facades unfold beneath three volcanoes. Many old ecclesiastical and civic structures are beautifully renovated, while others retain tumbledown charm, with fragments strewn about park-like grounds.
